DNA banking

DNA banking is the safe and long term storage of a genetic material. DNA is most commonly extracted from blood or buccal sample. With different genetic methods and new tests related to biological and medical problems in development it is becoming more and more important to store DNA in a long-term stable manner. Hitherto, biological material was fixated or cryopreserved for purpose of storage. But that kind of material is only accessible to a very limited number of genetic methods. By long-term storage of your animal’s DNA you can test your animal for any disease causing mutation or trait as methods develop without the need for repetitive sampling.
